It was on a cold and windswept night
far strayed from road and path
Through barren country was my flight
from sin’s eternal wrath
Beyond the steep inclining hills
I seldom stopped to rest
Above the treeline further still
breath burning in my chest
And though my journey
lead between
the mountain and the sea
In my heart you’ll be
To jagged peaks so draped in snow
that peril held each step
But from afar a light did glow
into a cave I crept
The lights continued deep within
and led me to a shrine
Upon which crystal waters din
reflections in recline
Through halls of stone
and trees of green
Within my heart you’ll be
And soon its voices spoke to me
a shadow formed from stone
My mirror image rose to be
from darkness I had known
There hanging from a thread upon
which scales my sins did measure
Was a sword, its shadow swung
above a pit of treasure
OMG, late to the party but this is some of the best occult infused doom stoner tackle I've ever heard. Reference points include Sabbath (obvs), especially with the Ozzy-esque vocals but there's also the melodiousness of early Heep mixing with a more contemporary occult rock sound. It starts in the 70's and makes it to the present day. The riffs are huge but it's their way with a hook that elevates this from your average doom/stoner fare. Very wonderful indeed! egg-magoo
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021
Italian stoner powerhouse Tenebra has the heft of Sabbath and the hooks of Saint Vitus in their powerfully imposing tunes. Bandcamp New & Notable May 8, 2022
